This week PHR travelled to a hog roast in Stratford, a beautifully picturesque town, home of the river Avon and the birthplace of perhaps the greatest literary mind of all time – William Shakespeare! Shakespeare was lucky to survive his formative years there, as within weeks of his birth in April 1564, the black plague had claimed nearly a third of the town’s population. Fortunately, we found Stratford to be plague free, and full of some of the friendliest people we’ve met on the road so far.
The occasion was an engagement party, and so the atmosphere was fantastic. We set up on a small green on the river, meaning our stall was just metres from the water’s edge. Our client’s guests stood on the grass, eating their pork baps and chatting, reminiscing about the happy couple to-be. The smell of our succulently roasted pigs must’ve wafted over across the river, as people on passing barges shouted their compliments over to us, and the guests. The view was magnificent, as the river stretched off into the distance, surrounded by green. If you’re going to have a hog roast… we suggest having a hog roast in Stratford!
Our guests chose to have their pig covered in a cider and sea salt flavour enhancing rub. We use these rubs because we know that they ensure that the succulence and taste of the meat remains superb throughout the roasting process. We slow roast our pigs in an upright fashion, so they retain their flavour. Whilst this isn’t the most traditional method, like turning the pig on a spit, we use it because we know it produces the best results. Your pig is roasted the night before your event, so whilst you may not get the visual effect of seeing the animal roasting at the venue, we can guarantee that the taste of our product will far outweigh the taste of other animals roasted by the traditional spit method. It also means we don’t have to arrive at your event 6 hours before the food is needed, like some other catering companies! We arrive in time enough to set up, prepare the food, and we’re ready to serve straight away.
Apart from the hog roast in Stratford, we were very busy this week. We had a couple of corporate buffets and an anniversary, for which we provided a beautiful fine dining menu. Our fine dining menu offers some extremely exquisite dishes, such as pan seared duck breast and the finest fillet steaks. Not only this, included in the price is the service of your own personal outfit of waiters and a chef! All our staff are trained highly in health & safety and hygiene, and will do everything they can to ensure that your event goes off smoothly.
So, do you have an upcoming event that needs catering? Feel free to peruse our website to see if we have something that catches your eye. Whether you’re into hog roasts, buffets, fine dining, or even a simple jacket potato, we’re sure that we can help you out. Contact us via the website.
As we were providing hog roast catering in Wiltshire last week, the Premier Hog Roast van could be seen travelling down the motorway to Swindon in much appreciated sunshine. We had a great time in the county, and decided we may have to visit more often considering the weather we experienced. We also found out that Wiltshire not only has the largest Chinese takeaway in the U.K., it also had the smallest church – having just a 13 x 11ft floor space, it can only seat 4 people… you learn something new everyday!
The cause for celebration this week was a fundraiser just outside Swindon, where the local community were trying to raise enough money to help their village’s primary school build a new sports hall for the children. We were happy to be a part of such a noble cause. Guests included people from towns and villages all around, the atmosphere was cheery, and the food was magnificent – if we do say so ourselves! Along with their previous efforts and events, at the end of the day enough money had finally been raised to start construction on the new hall. We even managed to secure another fundraiser in a couple of weeks time via a guest at the event – lamb roast is on the menu for that day. Do you have an upcoming charity event which needs to be catered for? Contact us via our website, we would love to help!
A cider and sea salt soaked pig went down a treat at the Wiltshire hog roast. Guests queued and queued at our stand to pick up their soft and freshly floured baps, subsequently filling them with our succulently slow roasted and spectacularly flavoured pulled pork. Our client had opted for a traditional sage and onion stuffing as an accompaniment – one of our personal favourites – and a large selection of salad was also on offer.
We don’t know exactly why our hog roasts taste so great… it could be down to a lot of reasons! Maybe it’s because we slow roast our pigs in an upright manner, with specialised and professional equipment. It might be because we smother our produce with an aromatic and taste-locking flavour enhancing rub the night before cooking. Possibly, it could be because we source all our animals from our very own Barry the Butcher – he makes sure that all the pigs we use are free range and top quality. We trust him, he’s got over 25 years of experience under his belt. Whatever the reason, you’ll only be able to find out by booking us and seeing for yourself.
So, no matter the location of the event or the level of cooking equipment available, the cause for celebration or the size of the venue, we’re confident that we can make your event go off without a hitch. We include free delivery on all large orders across the midland and London regions. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via this website.
After some midweek buffets and a jacket potato event, a hog roast in Northampton was our destination at the end of this week. All our staff were impressed by the picturesque nature of the town. Yes, it is a town, albeit one of the largest in the UK – with a population of over 210’000!
The location for the hog roast was a village hall located near the River Nene. The reason for the event was the celebration of the silver wedding anniversary of one of our regular clients. What better way to celebrate 25 years of happy marriage than with a gloriously delicious slow roasted pig in the company of your family and friends? Unfortunately, the weather was not on its best behaviour, as it sent some rather late and unexpected snow our way. Despite this, however, the guests and happy couple all enjoyed a brilliant day filled with good food, laughs and reminisces.
We’re always prepared for whatever the weather can throw at us. Luckily, at the hog roast in Northampton, the snow was only light and didn’t pose much of a problem. However, we still made good use of our high-quality gazebos so guests had a place to shelter under when acquiring their freshly made and softly floured baps, filled with succulent pork. If we are required to place our hog roast outside in the form of a stand at your event, we always manage to keep the rain away. So, don’t let our terrible English weather ruin your dream of having an al fresco hog roast at your event.
If you do have space in your home, or in the venue where your event takes place, for us to be stationed, then that’s fine by us too. No matter what level of culinary equipment available, we can work from nearly any kitchen or room. We can bring our own professional-grade equipment, should it be needed, to enable you to have your hog roast – or any other event we may cater for – exactly where you want it.
We don’t just reserve our equipment for ourselves… As part of our new and improved catering equipment hire service, you can use it too! Whatever you require, regardless of the event, we are sure to have it in stock. From furniture, such as tables and chairs, to crockery (disposable and china), to ovens, bain mairies and serving stations. In addition to this, our staff can also be hired at an extremely affordable rate. All our staff are trained in health & safety and food hygiene, and they’re all approachable and helpful! As part of our fine dining menus, suitable for weddings and any other type of formal celebration, you get your own uniformed staff, including chef, for 4 hours free of charge. Peruse our website, or give us a call, if you need equipment or staff for an upcoming event.
Here at Premier Hog Roast our aim is to make your event run smoothly – whether its providing shelter from nature, great food, professional grade equipment or staff to help at your event.
